Welcome Message
Dear Boards of Directors and Supervisors and Members of the Taiwan Society of Cardiology (TSOC),
The 2020 TSOC Annual Convention is very unique in two aspects. First, this year we celebrate the 60th anniversary of the TSOC. After six decades of dedication, the TSOC has received international reputation and recognition. The academic committee has prepared a well-designed program to commemorate the anniversary. What about the second aspect? The unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic almost stopped the convention from happening. After a two-month delay, we are very fortunate to host the first medical convention in Taipei after the Central Command Center lifted the restriction in June on public gathering.
The two-day convention will pivot around the main theme on the holistic care in heart failure. Eight sessions will commence simultaneously on Saturday, including TaiepiLIVE. In the morning we will start with the young investigators finalists’ competition, heart failure, pulmonary arterial hypertension and pulmonary embolism. In the afternoon we will present metabolic diseases in the heart, cardiac imaging, cardiovascular surgery, and electrophysiology. There will be a TSH-TSOC joint symposium on hypertension.
Sunday morning will continue with the TSOC Young Investigator Award Lecture and the Nong Ting Award Lecture, followed by the plenary lectures given by Professor Hung-Chi Lue and Professor Jeng-Jiann Chiu. Please mark your calendar to attend the general assembly and cast your ballots for boards of directors and supervisors. After the lunch symposium, please also enjoy our sessions on the quality of care, legal , basic science, structural heart disease and critical care.
The 2020 TSOC Annual Convention, despite its delay for two months, is not different from the previous events that showcased the achievements of all our members. During my presidency in the last two years, I have been humbled by the professionalism demonstrated by our fellow cardiologists. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Secretary General Professor Yen-Wen Wu and all our boards of directors and supervisors for their collective effort to serve our members and to advance the scientific session of TSOC. Please go through the prepared TSOC 60th anniversary pamphlet that chronicles the history of the Society. Last but not least, let’s look forward to the continuing prosperity and success of the TSOC in the next six decades to come! Thank you all.
Juey-Jen Hwang, M.D., Ph.D.
